Sarah Dash, Founding Member Of LaBelle, Has Passed Away

This is so heartbreaking. Sarah Dash, the founding member of the legendary girl group, LaBelle has passed away at the age of 76.

Dash was born in Trenton, New Jersey and moved to Philadelphia where she met Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, and Cindy Birdsong. The four would go on to form the quartet Patt LaBelle and the Bluebelles, which would later be changed to LaBelle after Birdsong departed from the group.

The group would go on to find success with their hit song, “Lady Marmalade” from their album, Nightbirds.

After hearing about the passing of Dash, Patti LaBelle would take to Instagram to speak about the loss of her friend and bandmate.

“We were just on stage together on Saturday and it was such a powerful and special moment! #SarahDash was an awesomely talented, beautiful, and loving soul who blessed my life and the lives of so many others in more ways than I can say.”

Friends and fans of Dash also shared special tributes to her. See what they had to say below.

We keep Sarah Dash’s family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
