Michael Jackson fans think Sam Smith is “off the wall” because he was recorded saying he “doesn’t like” the King of Pop.
Smith was relaxing on a boat with friend and fellow singer Adam Lambert as American Idol’s season 8 runner up vibed to MJ’s “Human Nature.”
Lambert posted a five-second video of their excursion – not realizing the backlash that would come – and Smith openly states, “I don’t like Michael Jackson, but this is a good song.”

Shocked by Smith’s comment, social media put their fingers to work as they jumped on the British singer for being blatantly “ignorant [and] disrespectful.”
TJ Jackson, Michael’s nephew and Tito Jackson’s youngest son, didn’t hesitate to voice his opinion either. He turned to Twitter to share the sentiment of his late uncle’s fans.
Sam Smith made a career on singing R&B/soul music. So to look into a camera and disregard one of its pillars is ignorant, disrespectful and arrogant. Everyone has opinions but @samsmithworld don’t disparage a soul pioneer when they helped paved the way for you and your music.
