Shooting At Six Flags Great America Leaves Three People Injured

Over the weekend, three people were injured during a shooting at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois.

According to police, the suspects entered the theme park’s parking lot in a white sedan. “The suspects exited the vehicle and began shooting toward another individual in the parking lot,” they said in a statement.

“The suspects got back in the white sedan and quickly left the area.” Two victims, a 19-year-old female, and a 17-year-old male were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The third victim was injured in the shoulder but refused medical attention.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted display because it happened in the parking lot and not inside Six Flags. In the multiple now-viral videos on social media, park attendees can be seen ducking for cover near the rides while others are trying to get over the fences to escape.

Rep. Lauren Underwood tweeted out about the shooting saying that she was “heartbroken” over the news. She also said, “my staff and I are actively monitoring the situation and are in communication with law enforcement.”

No suspect has been taken into custody at the time of this incident.
