The four act performance is 84 minutes long and involves several art mediums in one.

“As I contemplate the evolution and maturation of my artistry, 'In Service To Whom' was developed around constructing new narratives surrounding my body, the posture of rest, protection from the gaze, and speaks to a reemergence into the world of everyday life following periods of personal incubation and self-revitalization" she explained in the caption of a post on Instagram.

In Service To Whom is a follow up of her artist’s 2019 performance In Past Pupils and Smiles which took place at the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale de Venezia

The performance incorporated “orchestral works composed by the artist between 2018 and 2023 (“Villanelle For Times,” “God Rest Your,” “Bridge-s,” and “In Past Pupils and Smiles”), alongside her contemporary music. These compositions were inspired by repetition, gospel vocal arrangements, minimalism, and the Black southern marching band music of football games frequented by the artist in her hometown of Houston, Texas" according to Solange's website.

Solange also made her debut as a ballet composer in 2022 at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala, with big sis Beyoncé praising the star for her artistic endeavors.

“My beloved sister, there are no words to express the pride and admiration I have for you,” the “Break My Soul” singer, 41, wrote. “You are a visionary and one of one. Congratulations on being the first African American woman to compose for the New York City Ballet. The piece you composed is phenomenal. I love you deep. Might I suggest you don’t f*** with my sis.”
