Kevin Richardson’s dreams of going to Syracuse University we’re cut short when he was sent to jail for a crime he didn’t commit. In 1989, he was convicted of raping Trisha Meili in Central Park.

Now as fate would have it, Richardson is officially affiliated with the university. A scholarship will be named after him!

According to MN, they “named a $25,000 scholarship after Richardson. It will award specifically to black and latino students.”

Earlier this month Richardson first stepped foot on campus when he was honored at a reception. The article also says, “Students are hoping that Richardson will also have an honorary degree named after him next. A petition started by a student named Jalen Nash already has 6,000 signatures.”

Congratulations!
