Taraji P. Henson, is showing her support for Jussie Smollett after the vicious racist and homophobic attack.

Two masked men in Chicago attacked Empire actor, Jussie Smollett, on January 28th. A noose was wrapped around his neck; the attackers also poured bleach all over him. He left him with a fractured rib as they yelled, “This is MAGA country.” They also yelled homophobic slurs at him.

Henson plays Smollett’s mother on the show Empire. The actress took to her Instagram to express how she felt towards the situation.

She stated “I wish what happened to my baby was just one big bad joke but it wasn’t and we all feel his pain right now.”

Henson posted one of his music videos, and express that Smollett is full of “pure love.” She states he is “resilient” and that “love still lives in him.” Implying that he will continue to spread love even after this hateful situation.

As of now, Smollett has been released for the hospital and is now in recovery.
