After 21 long seasons, the Dr. Phil show is coming to an end.

Dr. Phil McGraw released a statement about the show ending and said, “I have been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television. With this show, we have helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through everything from addiction and marriage to mental wellness and raising children.”

He continued, “This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career. But while I’m moving on from daytime, there is so much more I wish to do.” It was reported that he will focus on future endeavors in primetime programming and has plans to announce a strategic prime-time partnership.

“I am compelled to engage with a broader audience because I have grave concerns for the American family and I am determined to help restore a clarity of purpose as well as our core values,” the tv host said.

Dr. Phil was first introduced to the world by Oprah Winfrey in the late 90s and early 2000s and then he would make numerous appearances on the show before landing his own show in 2002.

Since his show aired, he has hosted close to 4,000 episodes and had about 20,000 featured guests. Reruns of the show will be available for fans to watch once the final episode airs. CBS Media Ventures revealed its plans for those episodes.

“[We plan to] offer stations library episodes of Dr. Phil for the 2023-2024 season and beyond. The classic library episodes will include new content such as wraparounds and intros by McGraw, as well as guest updates.”
