Tyler Perry says “he is bringing an end to the famous Madea franchise.” The media mogul confirmed this during an interview on Monday.

“She’s doing one last tour in 2019, the farewell tour. The last movie is ‘Madea’d Funeral,’ which I shot two years ago. So we’re going to say goodbye to her.”

When Tyler was asked why he was finally ready to say goodbye to a character he’s been playing for over 15 years, he says,

“I just don’t want to be her age playing her.”

Madea first came on to the scenes with her role in Perry’s 1999 stage play “I Can Do Bad All By Myself.” From there she has starred in nine more plays alone with 10 films.

For all you Madea lovers, she will make her last appearance in one last stage tour next year.
