Usher To Receive An Honorary Doctorate From Berklee College

A congratulation is in order to Usher! This singer will be receiving an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Berklee College. 

According to reports, Usher will receive this honor along with Roberta Flack, and Sona Jorbareth for their contributions to music. The 2023 commencement ceremony will happen on Saturday, May 13, at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. 

Each of the recipients will have the opportunity to give a speech when they accept their degree. They will join the likes of musicians that came before them including, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion, B.B. King, Joni Mitchell, Quincy Jones, and many others. 

The college released a statement about this year’s recipients. “This year’s honorary doctorate recipients will be celebrated and recognized for their invaluable contributions to the worlds of music and philanthropy.” 

Throughout his career, Usher has received eight Grammy awards and sold over 23 million albums in the U.S., and 80 million copies across the world. He has won other awards for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Album, Best Contemporary R&B Album, and many more.
