The queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, might need a little help remembering all she wants for Christmas. A viral TikTok video shows the singer was using a teleprompter for her Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade performance.

A member of the crowd captured a teleprompter scrolling through the lyrics to All I Want For Christmas Is You during the performance. The video that was posted by TikToker @sydneybarinas now has over 6.1 million views. Although Carey was not shown in the video, two large monitors showed her singing and her backup dancers were seen in the video.
A spokesperson for Macy’s responded to the allegations in a statement saying that the teleprompter was used to give the audience “the opportunity to sing along.”
Users in the comments were quick to defend the singer as well.
“TV production employee here, the entire broadcast has these running in the script. For her, it’s probably a failsafe in case her in-ear fails,” one commented.
