The woman who took the photo of ‘The Cosby Show’ actor Geoffrey Owens at Traders Joe’s opens up in a new interview with NJ.com.

Karma Lawrence claims there was no malicious intent when she took the photo of Owens and apologizes for any pain that she may have caused.  She also detailed the aftermath once the photo went viral after Daily Mail and Fox News published the photos.  Since the backlash she has received hate mail and nasty social media posts.

“I don’t know why I snuck a picture,” said the 50-year-old. “I figured everybody does it. I don’t know what possessed me. I just did it. I didn’t even think about it. I just kind of did it on impulse and it was bad impulse.”

Lawrence reveals that she had no idea the photo would spark so much controversy when it comes to job-shaming.  She cried when she realized the photos had gone viral.

“It wasn’t malicious. That’s on my kids, my grandkids, my parents. I’m not that type of person. I’m not that type of a person. I’m not the monster they’re making me out to be.”

All in all, Lawrence regrets ever taking the photo and thought about reaching out to Owens, but wasn’t sure how.

“I would tell him, ‘I am extremely, extremely apologetic about what has happened. And if I could take it back, I would.”
