Black excellence is in full effect!
Tia Mowry and Loretta Divine are set to star in Family Reunion, a new multi-generational, multi-camera comedy series for Netflix. Created and executive produced by Meg DeLoatch (Eve, Fuller House) and directed by Eric Dean Seaton (Modern Family, Prince of Peoria), the project have been approved for 20 episodes.
We are very excited about this project because it involves all black writers and it’s an African American family sitcom. According to Deadline, Mowry plays “Cocoa McKellan, a free spirited, fun, conscious mother from Seattle. When she and her former football-playing husband Moz and their four children travel from their home in the big city to the small town of Columbus, Georgia for the McKellan Family Reunion, they get to know an extended family they didn’t even realize they were missing. Devine plays the loving but strict matriarch of the family, M’Dear.”
Melissa Cobb, the VP of Kids and Family at Netflix says,
