In a candid interview on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, Royce Reed, the ex-girlfriend of NBA star Dwight Howard, made explosive claims about his personal life. Reed, a former Basketball Wives star, alleged she frequently witnessed Howard engaging in intimate encounters with men. These revelations have reignited long-standing speculation about Howard’s sexual orientation.

During the podcast, Newton directly asked Reed if Howard had been with other men. Reed’s response was unambiguous. “Yeah. All the time,” she said. She went on to describe Howard’s use of psychedelic mushrooms during these encounters, adding, “They took mushrooms together and then they were like in the bed moaning and touching themselves … but they say that’s an effect of taking mushrooms. I didn’t take them. I pretended to but I didn’t. I spit them right out.”
Reed further detailed that these encounters often occurred during extended parties at Howard’s home during the COVID-19 quarantine. She claimed Howard’s children, including their son, were present in the house but remained upstairs with the nanny. “When this would happen, it was late. So they [the children] were done for the night,” she explained.
Newton pressed Reed on her own role in these events, questioning her parenting choices. She responded, “Yes, it was quarantine. Everybody was chillin’ outside in their own yard … That was not a problem.” Newton countered, “Substance is cool—you do whatever floats your boat, but keep the kids out of it.”
This isn’t the first time Howard’s personal life has made headlines. In 2024, he was accused of sexual assault by a Georgia man, although the lawsuit was later dropped. Howard has denied previous allegations and has often emphasized his focus on his career and children.
