Sean “Diddy” Combs was reportedly rushed to a hospital after suffering a head injury inside a New Jersey federal prison.

The 56-year-old music mogul was transported by ambulance early Saturday, Oct. 10, according to TMZ. Combs is currently serving his prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix.

Sources familiar with the incident told TMZ that Combs was taken to a nearby hospital around 1 a.m. His injury was reportedly not life-threatening, and he remained conscious and able to speak.

The Bad Boy Records founder returned to the prison later that morning, reportedly before sunrise.

However, questions remain about what caused the injury. Officials have not publicly confirmed how Combs was hurt or whether the incident involved another inmate.

A source familiar with the situation also confirmed Combs’ hospitalization to PEOPLE.

Combs’ spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, addressed the reports in a statement to the outlet.

“We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances,” Engelmayer said. “Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out.”

The extent of Combs’ injuries and the medical treatment he received have not been disclosed.

Hospitalization Follows Reports of Prison Violations

Combs’ hospitalization comes amid growing scrutiny surrounding his time behind bars.

Earlier this month, NBC News reported that Combs allegedly received special privileges while incarcerated at Fort Dix.

According to the report, the former entertainment executive allegedly paid fellow inmates for personal services. Those services reportedly included preparing meals, cleaning his living space and providing massages.

He was also accused of possessing prohibited items, including a cellphone and alcohol.

Following the allegations, reports emerged that Combs had been placed in solitary confinement.

The reported disciplinary issues also coincided with changes to his projected prison release date.

Combs was previously expected to leave federal custody in January 2028. However, his projected release date has since been pushed back to March 2, 2028.

The change reportedly followed disciplinary sanctions, including the loss of good conduct time.

Despite the allegations, Combs’ representatives have previously criticized the attention surrounding his prison conditions.

His team has maintained that the music mogul remains focused on serving his sentence while pursuing his legal appeal.

Combs Continues Serving Federal Prison Sentence

Combs is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following his highly publicized criminal trial in 2025.

In July 2025, a federal jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

However, jurors acquitted him of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

He was sentenced in October 2025 after spending more than a year in federal custody.

Before his transfer to Fort Dix, Combs was detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The trial marked a dramatic downfall for the former music executive, whose Bad Boy Records label helped shape hip-hop and R&B.

His conviction followed weeks of testimony concerning allegations of abuse, coercion and sexual misconduct.

Combs has denied numerous allegations against him and continues to challenge his conviction through the appeals process.

Meanwhile, his latest reported medical emergency raises additional questions about his circumstances in federal custody.

Although reports indicate that his injuries were not life-threatening, the cause of the incident remains unknown.

As of Monday, Oct. 12, prison officials had not publicly released additional details about his hospitalization.

Combs has reportedly returned to Fort Dix, where he continues serving his sentence.
