Comedian Katt Williams is embarking on a new venture by transforming a former military base in Alabama into a state-of-the-art movie studio. This bold move reflects his aspirations to expand his influence in the entertainment industry.

Katt Williams Vision Inspired by Trailblazers

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Williams discussed his ambitious plan. He revealed his intention to convert the recently acquired military base into a cutting-edge film production facility. Williams acknowledged the influence of entertainment mogul Tyler Perry on his decision, stating, “So Tyler Perry got a military base, made it into a movie studio, and started making movies.”

Williams emphasized his commitment to following successful examples in the industry, saying, “If I see somebody do a good job, I just want to do a good job.”

Details of the Alabama Property

While the exact location of the property remains undisclosed, reports suggest it could be the “Starships” site at the former Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama. This expansive area includes 30 concrete buildings, 10 barracks with 20 rooms each, two gymnasiums, and over 90 acres of usable flat land. The property offers more than three million square feet of indoor space, making it an ideal location for a film studio campus.

Williams’ publicist, Amy Sisoyev, confirmed the acquisition but withheld specific details. She stated, “I can’t disclose the amount or exact location just yet, but I can confirm that he has purchased a former military base in Alabama.”

Expanding Opportunities in Entertainment

Williams’ initiative aligns with his ambition to amplify Black voices in entertainment. He expressed the importance of building more opportunities in Hollywood, noting, “It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry. He can only do so much.”

By investing in Alabama, Williams aims to establish a hub for storytelling and creativity. His plans for the property include supporting film and television production and nurturing diverse creative talent. Connie Alexander Jacks of The Luxe Group, the brokerage that facilitated the sale, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “We were thrilled to work with Katt Williams on this incredible project.” She added, “His vision for ‘Starships’ is inspiring.”

This venture marks a significant shift in Williams’ career, showcasing his determination to leave a lasting impact on the entertainment industry. His recent Netflix special, “Woke Foke,” and the upcoming “Katt Williams: Heaven on Earth” tour demonstrate his continued commitment to his craft. The development of the movie studio further solidifies his role as a visionary in the industry.
