Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has confirmed he helped Sean “Diddy” Combs get a message to President Donald Trump.
During an Oct. 8 appearance on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live,” Tyson revealed that Combs personally requested the favor from prison.
The 60-year-old boxer discussed his relationship with the Bad Boy Records founder while promoting his Netflix documentary, “TYSON.”
When host Andy Cohen asked whether the two remained friends, Tyson confirmed they were still on good terms.
“Yeah, I’m friendly with Puff,” Tyson said.
Cohen then questioned whether Tyson had spoken with Combs since his incarceration.
“I spoke with him once on the phone,” Tyson explained. “He wanted me to give a letter to the president.”
When Cohen asked whether he followed through with the request, Tyson confirmed his involvement.
“I did what he told me to do, yeah.”
Tyson did not disclose the letter’s contents or provide additional details about his interaction with Trump. However, the correspondence reportedly involved Combs’ efforts to secure a presidential pardon.
Tyson Questions Diddy’s Prosecution
Beyond discussing the letter, Tyson also shared his reaction to the federal case against Combs.
The former boxing champion appeared particularly surprised by the government’s use of a century-old federal law.
“Listen, I was surprised that they went through so many lengths to get him,” Tyson said.
“They used a 110-year-old rule to get him, that case 110 years ago, but they used it to get him. Can you imagine that?”
Tyson was referencing the Mann Act, a federal law originally enacted in 1910. The legislation prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution or other unlawful sexual activity.
Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
However, jurors acquitted the music executive of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
He was subsequently sentenced to 50 months in federal prison.
Combs is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Despite his criminal acquittals on the more serious charges, Combs continues to face numerous civil lawsuits involving allegations of sexual misconduct. He has denied the allegations.
Trump Previously Addressed Diddy’s Pardon Request
Tyson’s revelation comes months after Trump publicly acknowledged receiving a letter from Combs requesting presidential clemency.
In January, Trump told The New York Times that the music mogul had contacted him about a possible pardon.
However, the president indicated he was not considering granting the request.
Trump and Combs have a relationship dating back years, although their political differences have reportedly complicated that connection.
During an August 2025 interview with Newsmax, Trump reflected on his previous interactions with the entertainment executive.
“I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great,” Trump said.
“[He] seemed like a nice guy,” Trump continued. “I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office he was very hostile.”
Combs’ legal team previously confirmed it had approached the Trump administration about securing a pardon.
Still, those efforts have not resulted in presidential clemency.
The White House also pushed back against an October report suggesting Trump was preparing to release Combs from prison.
“There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news,” the administration said.
“The President, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations.”
Although Tyson has now acknowledged delivering a letter, he has not confirmed whether it was the same correspondence Trump previously discussed.
For now, Combs remains incarcerated, with his projected release date reportedly set for March 2, 2028.
Tyson’s comments provide new insight into the music mogul’s efforts to seek assistance from influential friends outside prison
