Teyana Taylor has been announced as the recipient of the inaugural Innovator Award by the historic Apollo Theater.
Set to be held at the theater during its Spring Benefit on June 4, Taylor is being honored for a trailblazing career as a singer, model, and actress.
In a statement, Taylor shared her excitement about the honor.
“Growing up in Harlem, The Apollo has always been a source of inspiration and Black excellence,” added Taylor. “Being honored in my hometown by this iconic institution is beyond anything I could have dreamed.”
Clive Davis, the legendary music executive, will be recognized with the Legacy Award and be inducted into The Apollo’s legendary Walk of Fame.
“To be recognized by The Apollo, an institution that has launched and celebrated so many of the artists I’ve admired and worked with throughout my career, is deeply meaningful to me,” said Davis. “I am truly honored to receive the Legacy Award and to join The Apollo’s Walk of Fame.”
During the grand occasion, a tribute to the late Richard Parsons and The Baylor Project are slated to perform. Also, Deborah Cox, Shoshana Bean, and many more surprise guests will be present to pay tribute to Davis. R&B legend Monica will present the prestigious honor to Davis.

With Adam Blackstone as the musical director, Martha Redbone and Avery Sunshine will open the show. Also, Camille A. Brown will perform, and DJ D-Nice will provide the sounds on the turntables for the afterparty.
