Former NFL standout Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested early Saturday morning in Covington, Kentucky. Authorities charged him with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and assaulting a police officer. The arrest occurred around 1:00 a.m., after local officers responded to a disturbance reported outside a nearby bar. When officers arrived, witnesses said they observed him leaning heavily against his vehicle.

Ex-NFL Cornerback Held on Multiple Charges

Police report indicates Jones, 41, exhibited clear signs of intoxication. The officers noted that he had “glossy eyes” and “slurred speech” when approached around 12:45 a.m. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Kenton County Detention Center in Covington, where booking was completed just before 2:00 a.m. .

Court documents obtained by TMZ allege that while Jones was restrained, he “intentionally threw his elbow upwards” and struck an officer. This act caused bleeding to the inside of the officer’s lip. He remains in jail pending his scheduled arraignment on Monday, June 9 at 8:30 a.m.

Agent Claims “Overzealous Policing”

Peter Schaffer, Jones’s agent, sharply criticized law enforcement. He called the arrest “another example of overzealous policing” and insisted, “Adam did nothing wrong other than exercise his right to ask why he was being detained—a fundamental question that every citizen should be allowed to ask without fear of retaliation.”

Schaffer also protested the sequence of charges. “Initially, officers claimed he was being arrested for assault,” he said, “then shifted to public intoxication… and finally settled on disorderly conduct—simply for asking why he was being detained.”

In a separate statement, Schaffer added:

“This pattern of escalating and inconsistent charges is a clear abuse of authority. People should not be arrested for asking questions… We call for a full and transparent review of this arrest.”

A Tumultuous History, Again in the Spotlight

Jones’s arrest marks another in a string of legal entanglements. In September 2023, he was arrested at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for intoxication, disorderly conduct, and terroristic threats. Later that year, after attending the Jake Paul–Mike Tyson fight in Arlington, Texas, he faced charges for assaulting a peace officer and public intoxication.

In total, Jones has been arrested more times than any other NFL player this century. His NFL career was twice interrupted by suspensions: he missed the entire 2007 season and parts of 2008 for off-field incidents. Drafted sixth overall in 2005, he enjoyed a 12-season career across four teams, notably earning All‑Pro honors in 2014 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2015.

Most recently, Jones was released on a $10,000 bond early Saturday afternoon. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday morning.

Looking Ahead

On Monday, the Covington court will hear Jones’s arraignment. His legal team is expected to file motions requesting bond review and disputing the validity of the assault and disorderly conduct charges. Whether authorities proceed with prosecution or negotiate a plea remains to be seen.

For now, the spotlight returns to Jones’s contentious history with law enforcement. His supporters describe the situation as overreach, while authorities maintain charges are justified. Both sides now await the legal process to unfold.
