Emmy‑winning actor Keith David, renowned for his commanding voice and memorable screen presence, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the Class of 2026. The announcement, made today by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, places David among 35 honorees spanning film, television, music, theatre, and sports entertainment.

A Moment of Joy and Surprise

In a video shared on social platforms, David appears stunned as his name is read aloud. His eyes widen, and he instinctively covers his mouth. His wife, Dionne Lea Williams, is heard whispering, “Happy 70th birthday,” before embracing him.

David later posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“What a surprise! Being blessed to get to do this for a living is enough for me; to be recognized for my contribution to the arts is the cherry on top.”

He continued:

“Thank you, Hollywood Walk of Fame & Hollywood Chamber for this honor. This will be a wonderful birthday present next year.”

Celebrating a Storied Career

Keith David’s career spans nearly five decades and includes over 300 film, television, and voice acting credits. He rose to prominence in films like Platoon (1986), The Thing (1982), and They Live (1988), bringing intensity and nuance to his roles. His resonant voice also became a staple in animation, video games, and documentaries.

David has earned three Emmy Awards for voice-over performances. One was for PBS’s Unforgivable Blackness (2005), and two more were for the documentary series The War (2008) and Jackie Robinson (2016).

The Class of 2026 includes luminaries like Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Molly Ringwald, and Shaquille O’Neal. Hollywood Chamber chairman Peter Roth praised the group:
