The announcement, made today by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, places David among 35 honorees spanning film, television, music, theatre, and sports entertainment.

In a video shared on social platforms, David appears stunned as his name is read aloud. His eyes widen, and he instinctively covers his mouth. His wife, Dionne Lea Williams, is heard whispering, “Happy 70th birthday,” before embracing him.
David later posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“What a surprise! Being blessed to get to do this for a living is enough for me; to be recognized for my contribution to the arts is the cherry on top.”
He continued:

Keith David’s career spans nearly five decades and includes over 300 film, television, and voice acting credits.
