Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson made waves Monday when he candidly described his sexual past as having “a little scary” body count, suggesting it might even be “too much.” He made the remarks during a recording of Kirk Franklin’s Den of Kings podcast.
Around the 19-minute mark, Gibson acknowledged that his history with women had become overwhelming. “Serious. I would be considered a pusologist,” he quipped, drawing laughter from fellow panelists.
Gibson offered context, explaining his early career placed him in front of almost exclusively female audiences. “Every audience I perform in front of … it’s all women,” he said. “And it’s been that way from the beginning.”
A pivotal moment came when “a powerful man of God” asked, “Hey, Reese, let me ask you, man. How many more?” That question struck Gibson deeply. He confessed, “I had already had it in my head that I’m doing too much, too often. Too many cities, too many states, too many countries.”
The conversation took a reflective turn as Gibson considered whether his behavior was rooted in deeper issues. “You either a sex addict and you out here just trying to put your weewee in everything … or it’s coming from something,” he said. “You can’t be triggered by triggers that don’t exist. So what’s triggering your sexual appetite?”
He admitted the lifestyle had led him to fear for his health and well-being. “I had convinced myself that at a certain point it’s going to be over … All of this access … it’s going to be over soon.”
The disclosure sparked strong reactions online. One Instagram user commented, “The amount of women you can sleep with doesn’t make you a man.” Another added, “Sexual discipline is how you show respect to yourself.”
