Cardi B is breaking her silence about how her marriage to Offset ended.

Appearing on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, said she “felt the love dying” during her seven-year marriage.

From my end, from his end … I was very lonely because I chose to be lonely,” Cardi said.

Cardi also shared why it took so long to finally break it off.

“It took months for the heart to say, ‘You’re done.’ Instead of my mouth and my brain,” Cardi explained. “My heart had to be like, ‘You’re done.’ Because you could say it and you could take actions, but even if you take actions, if you’re not done, you’re not done.”

Cardi then revealed that she asked Shakira for advice while working on their song “Puntería.”

“Around that time, I was working with Shakira, and I was like, how the f— did you overcome this? Like, how did you overcome this?” Cardi recalled. “And [she’s] like, ‘It’s going to happen.’ And [I’m] like, ‘It will never happen.’ And it happened. It took some crying, it took some thoughts, scary thoughts.”

After the relationship ended,  Cardi told Gayle King on CBS Mornings she stopped allowing hate in her heart.

“I just wish he was a better person, but it is what it is. Be a better person for your kids,” she continued at the time. “I think he has some type of hate in his heart right now… I don’t know how long that’s gonna take for him, but that’s always been my wish.”

She added, “I see what comes with being a wife, being a mom, so I experienced that. It’s like I have to experience pain, I have to experience good times, I have to experience what it was like to have a family and to be a wife.”
