Sha’Carri Richardson recently had another run-in with the law.

According to NBC News, the Olympic gold medallist was arrested and booked in Orange County on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding at more than 100 mph.

Richardson’s bond was set at $500.

Orange County deputies reported that Richardson was driving at 104 miles per hour on State Road 429. They claim she was “dangerously tailgating” and driving across lanes to pass other drivers.

Police reports state that Richardson was arrested under the state’s new Super Speeder law. Going into effect in July 2025, the law allows “law enforcement to arrest people for exceeding 100 miles per hour or driving 50 miles per hour above the posted speed limit.”

Since the law has gone into effect, the Florida Highway Patrol has charged more than 70 drivers.

Richardson Was Arrested In 2025

This is Richardson’s most recent instance of being on the wrong side of the law.

In August 2025, Richardson was arrested at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. She had a verbal altercation with her then-boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman. Security footage reportedly showed her pushing him and throwing a pair of headphones. The altercation led to a charge of fourth-degree domestic violence assault. Coleman declined to press charges, and Richardson later issued a public apology for the incident.

The police report said an officer at the airport was notified by a Transportation Security Administration supervisor of a disturbance between Richardson and her boyfriend, sprinter Christian Coleman. They were scheduled to compete at the championships.

As The Independent UK noted, an officer on the scene said, “I was told Coleman did not want to participate any further in the investigation and declined to be a victim.”

Richardson Was Suspended From The USA Track Team In 2021

In 2021, Richardson was suspended from the USA Track team after she tested positive for marijuana. The suspension resulted in her missing the Tokyo Olympics.

Richardson opened up about how she’s been coping with the unexpected death of her biological mother. Using marijuana was one of the ways she would cope. She says:

“It sent me into a state of emotional panic,” she said. I didn’t know how to control my emotions or deal with my emotions during that time.”
