Mystikal has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape in connection with a case from 2022
According to The Guardian, Mystikal faces up to 20 years in prison after his guilty plea in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
When the arrest was first announced, Mystikal was charged with a slew of serious crimes, including first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery, and false imprisonment. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Mystikal is part of a deal that “reduced the overall severity of the case against him.” The previous charges would have given him life in prison if he had been convicted.
WBRZ reported that Mystikal, in 2022, was accused of beating, choking, and robbing a woman at his Ascension Parish home. The victim told authorities that Mystikal “took her keys and phone so she couldn’t leave.” When she was trying to find her lost money, he forcibly raped her.
Following the sexual assault, Mystikal allegedly “let the woman leave after he forced her to send him money via CashApp.”
MYSTIKAL HAS A LONG HISTORY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
Mystikal has been accused of severe sexual assault charges spanning over two decades. His first major conviction occurred in 2003, when he pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion after being accused of forcing his hairstylist to perform sex acts. He went on to serve six years in state prison and was required to register as a sex offender. In 2017, he faced a second set of allegations involving first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping following an incident at a Shreveport casino. Although he spent 18 months in jail before posting a $3 million bond, those charges were eventually dropped in late 2020 after a grand jury declined to indict him based on new evidence.
Mystikal’s once promising career has been totally derailed by his legal woes. With No Limit Records, he released platinum albums Unpredictable (1997) and Ghetto Fabulous (1998). In 2000, he released the double-platinum album Let’s Get Ready, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the global club hits “Shake Ya A$$” and “Danger (Been So Long).
