Grammy-winning artist Lizzo has announced a new studio album titled B*tch*, marking her first full-length release since 2022.
The singer revealed the project on Monday, coinciding with her 38th birthday. The album is scheduled for release June 5, according to multiple reports.
The upcoming record will include 12 tracks and feature the previously released single “Don’t Make Me Love U.”
A Reclamation of Language
Lizzo said the album title reflects a personal and cultural statement.
“Reclaiming the word B*tch is power,” she said in a statement. “It’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love.”
She added, “It was only fitting to name my album B*tch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100% that bitch!”
The title track, also called “B*tch,” is set for release May 1. The song draws inspiration from earlier works that used the term in empowering ways.
Industry observers note the move aligns with Lizzo’s long-standing themes of self-love and empowerment.
A New Era After Setbacks
The album arrives after a period of transition in Lizzo’s career.
An earlier project, Love in Real Life, was ultimately shelved following modest chart performance.
In 2025, she released the mixtape My Face Hurts From Smiling, which leaned more heavily into rap influences.
Her new album is expected to blend pop, rap and rock elements while exploring more introspective themes.
The singer’s last studio album, Special, produced the chart-topping hit “About Damn Time” and cemented her mainstream success.
Beyond music, Lizzo continues to expand her creative portfolio. She is set to portray Sister Rosetta Tharpe in an upcoming biopic and plans to release a children’s book later this year.
The announcement signals a bold new chapter for the artist, who has built her career on messages of resilience and confidence.
With B*tch*, Lizzo appears poised to redefine both her sound and the language surrounding it.
