Amanda Seales has come forward with a detailed written account of a January 2023 sexual assault. Released in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, her statement includes a candid critique of how the incident was subsequently handled.
Taking to Instagram, Seales shared details about the devastating experience.
“So in January 2023, I was sexually assaulted,” said Seales. “The experience revealed a lot to me about myself. And it revealed even more to me about the incapacity of those around me to support me through this horrific experience.”
In the post, Seales also shared the release of an unpublished memoir chapter titled Crank Dat Through a Sexual Assault. The chapter was from her project Bodywavin’ Through the BS.
Seales previously recounted the incident in detail on her Small Doses podcast. She described being asleep beside her boyfriend while on vacation when an intruder entered their room through an unlocked balcony door.
She said that the unknown man “put his hand between my legs” while she was “half asleep.” Because she could not provide the authorities a clear description of the man, she claims that her report was dismissed.
Seales’s statement comes amid renewed attention to her history of discussing sexual misconduct. In 2019, according to The Miami Herald, she addressed public confusion regarding allegations involving former NFL player Myron Rolle.
“I never accused Myron Rolle of sexually harassing me,”she clarified in an Instagram post. She went on to explain that her previous comments were intended to highlight claims made by other women.
In a written statement to the Miami Herald, Rolle denied all accusations.
“I understand that in today’s world, the responsibility falls on the ‘accused’ to prove themselves innocent. As opposed to ones alleged ‘accuser’ having to prove their claims before going public,” he wrote. Unfortunately, I have found myself victim to these very circumstances.”
Let me make myself perfectly clear — these accusations are absolutely false,” he continued. And should be characterized as exactly what they are — acts of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation.
