Olympic gymnastics star Simone Biles has revealed she recently underwent a medical procedure, weeks after surviving what she previously described as a frightening health emergency that nearly claimed her life.
Biles shared the update with fans through Instagram Stories this week. She posted a black-and-white photo from a hospital bed wearing a gown and surgical cap. Her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, stood beside her before the procedure.
“his birthday but he takes me to get my procedure 🥹🥹🥹🤍🤍🤍 i woke up singing bossman dlow ‘talk my shit,’ 🤣🤣🤣,” Biles wrote alongside the image. She did not identify the procedure or explain whether it was connected to her earlier medical emergency.
The decorated gymnast has continued to keep the details of her health private. However, the latest update follows a deeply personal message she shared in June that left many fans concerned.

Earlier this summer, Biles disclosed she had endured what she called one of the most terrifying moments of her life.
“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age,” Biles wrote at the time. “But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”
She continued, “This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life. Especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices.”
Biles added that she would be spending time recovering at home before eventually sharing more about what happened.
“I’ll be in bed resting this week & I’ll explain later… eventually.”
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist has not publicly disclosed a diagnosis. She also has not said whether the recent procedure was planned or directly related to the earlier emergency.

Despite her health challenges, Biles has gradually returned to public life.
She recently attended the 2026 ESPY Awards with Owens. The couple also shared moments from a vacation, which Biles later described as part of her healing process.

“Ugh these comments make me sad,” she wrote. “a little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here.”
Owens has remained a constant presence throughout her recovery. In her latest update, Biles also shared that he surprised her with flowers after she returned home from a trip just before his birthday. She thanked him for spending part of his special day supporting her during the medical procedure instead of celebrating elsewhere.
For now, Biles appears determined to recover on her own terms. While public curiosity remains high, she has made clear that she intends to reveal more only when she feels ready.
