Megan Thee Stallion is claiming the summer as all hers.
In an InStyle cover story, the “Hot Girl Summer” rapper shared her goal of claiming summer the same way Mariah Carey owns Christmas.
“I want to be the Mariah of Summer. I love Mariah Carey,” Megan shared.
“Mariah is Christmas. As soon as November starts, we just hear Mariah hit that high note. Boom. That’s her s—,” she continued. “Me, June 21st. As soon as summer starts, boom, it’s Megan.”
“I’m not playing,” she added.
Megan launched her own seasonal phenomenon in 2019 by coining “hot girl summer.” She released the hit single featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign, which hit No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Back in 2024, Megan went on the Hot Girl Summer Tour in support of her album Megan. Interestingly, she did not perform “Hot Girl Summer” at the shows.
Additionally, Megan has expanded her brand into a full empire. She is launching a Hot Girl Summer fragrance, a “Hot Dog Summer” pet line, and her own swimwear collection.
“I am Hot Girl Summer. So why not have a Hot Girl Universe? I’m going to make it all the things that are in my head and manifest them into my real life,” Megan revealed. “I love my animals, so of course I have the Hot Dog Summer line with all their clothes and toys, and my dogs really, really love it. So, I thought, Other people’s dogs must want to do this too.”
“And for my Hotties, we all need to be in uniform together. So swimwear,” added Megan.
Megan is also collaborating with Carl Jones, creator of The Boondocks.
“I was like, ‘Carl, I want my own anime-style series, and I wouldn’t want to do it with anybody else other than you,” said Megan.
“I’m voicing my own character,” she continued. “Going in the studio and being Megan Thee Stallion, like, I can record something, and I know what voice I’m going to do it in. Boom. This is what it sounds like over the track. That is easy. But voice acting for a character is really different.
