Celebrity stylist Law Roach has opened up about the professional rift that led to his termination by actress Keke Palmer, admitting that he simply “couldn’t get it right” during a pivotal moment in her personal life.
The self-described “Image Architect,” known for his transformative work with stars like Zendaya and Céline Dion, revealed the details during an appearance on the “Aspire with Emma Grede” podcast. The conflict stemmed from Palmer’s desire for privacy during her first pregnancy.
According to Roach, the “Nope” actress was determined to keep her pregnancy hidden from the public eye at the time, requesting wardrobe choices that concealed her growing baby bump. Roach, however, found himself at odds with that vision, as he felt compelled to celebrate and showcase her maternity silhouette through high fashion.
“I couldn’t get it right. I couldn’t get it right,” Roach said during the interview, which premiered on Oct. 20. “I love Keke to death. It wasn’t personal. It was a business decision that she should have made.” He explained that while he was trying to lean into maternity style, Palmer was “lying about being pregnant” to the public and required discretion that he struggled to provide. The professional relationship ended with a direct phone call from Palmer. Roach recalled the actress telling him, “You may be the best stylist in the world, but you are not the best stylist for me.”
Rather than taking offense, Roach said he respected her clarity and her ability to make a difficult business decision. The stylist noted that he holds no grudges over the dismissal and actually views the story with a sense of pride regarding Palmer’s assertiveness.
He acknowledged that his creative energy was not aligned with her specific needs at that time, stating that he simply could not deliver the results she required for her public appearances.
Law has been making headlines lately for his work with Kim Kardashian and Porsha Williams.
