Busta Rhymes Receives Honorary Doctorate

Dr. Rhymes is the building!

Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes has received an honorary doctorate from Harvest Christian University. On Saturday (February 1), the ceremony took place at the school’s New York Winter 2025 Masterclass Commencement.

Taking to Instagram, the “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” rapper expressed his gratitude for the accolade. “WILL NEVER STOP SAYING IT!! THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WON’T EVER STOP NEVER EVER EVER!! DON’T LET NOBODY EVER STEAL YOUR JOY!!! IT’S OFFICIAL!! FROM THIS DAY FORWARD YOU WILL FOREVER KNOW ME AS DR. RHYMES!!!!!” his post read.

“SUCH AN HONOR AND A BLESSING TO BE CHOSEN AND ACKNOWLEDGED IN THIS WAY!!” he continued.

In addition to Busta, other recipients of honorary degrees included, Nikki Hunter-Cummins, singer Monique Nikkole; and Hempstead, New York Senior Councilwoman Dorothy L. Goosby. 

Don Pooh, the husband of Hunter-Cummins, served as the keynote speaker for the momentous occasion.

This was not the only award the rap star received. Rock The Bells reported that Busta was selected as a recipient of the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. According to the description of the award, Busta was chosen” for his contributions to community as an international Hip-Hop recording artist, music business entrepreneur, thespian, and humanitarian.”
