The Liberty Science Center, a non-profit learning center located in Jersey City, is hosting holiday-themed programming from Nov. 28 to Jan 4.
To help kick-off the holiday season, the center has a slate of highly visual, family-friendly programs in which visitors can participate.
From skating rinks to nitrogen ice cream, there will be various festivities for guests looking for fun and educational activities this holiday season.
- Santa’s Pajama Party:
- Young children can get into their coziest and most festive pajamas and meet Santa, decorate cookies and ornaments, view the night sky through telescopes, take FREE photos with Santa, and see special performances from Imagine Circus.
- Friday & Saturday evenings, 5:30–9:30pm from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve:

- Sock Skating Rink: Kids glide and spin in their socks under colorful holiday lights, with an hourly “snowball” fight.
- Penguins & other animal friends: Up-close moments with a live penguin, baby kangaroo, lemur, and more
- Gingerbread Express Train: A holiday-themed mini train ride for kids (weekends only).
- Nitrogen Ice Cream: Educators make peppermint ice cream using liquid nitrogen.
- Fire & Ice Science Show: Awe-inspiring experiments using fire and ice
- Holiday Planetarium & Laser Shows: In the largest planetarium in the entire Western Hemisphere.
