Bernice King, the daughter of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., calls out rapper Sexyy Red over an AI-generated photo.

The rapper was criticized for posting a photo on her X account of her and Dr. King in a club. Bernice King didn’t like the fake picture of her dad and the rapper and blasted her for sharing the post.

“This is intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful to my family and my father, who is not here to respond himself because he was assassinated for working for your civil and human rights and to end war and poverty. Please delete.” Bernice wrote.

“Please don’t project your thoughts onto me. I don’t believe Sexyy Red to be a ‘degenerate,’ ‘ghetto,’ or ‘trash.’ I have spoken out in the past about the use of and comparison to either of my parents to denigrate other people,” she continued. “I just don’t understand this type of use of my father’s image (on #MLKDay, no less), in a way that does not convey what we know to be true about his service and sacrifice. Even if you disagree with him or with his tactics or even believe things said about him by people who hated him, why do this?”

Sexyy Red apologized to Bernice King for insensitivity of the post.

However, users on X told her about the many times her father have been on numerous flyers throughout the years. One user said, “Lol not to be that guy but then n****a in Atlanta been putting yo daddy on flyers for YEARS. Also Mississippi and Alabama tryna celebrate Robert E. Lee day on your dad’s day. I think that’s more pressing but hey what do I know.”

Bernice responded, “How can you tell me how I should respond to disrespect of my father or assume that I don’t respond when it happens in other instances? I do, and have done so on this platform.”
