Cardi B admitted that she dozed off during her assault trial.
Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Cardi B was asked if she fell asleep during closing arguments, and she came clean.
“I’m not even going to lie, I was,” Cardi B told the host Jennifer Hudson. “I had a long night! I’m in the middle of an album rollout. I was so sleepy, I was trying to fight it, but I just couldn’t.”
“I’m in the middle of an album rollout, and I have to go to court,” Cardi B continued. “And then, when I get to court, I realize that it’s going to be on national TV, being televised. It’s like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. I missed my kids’ first day of school. But at least it’s positive press.”
After the charges were dismissed against her, Cardi B went all in on promoting her music. “I mean, look!… BY POPULAR DEMAND, the court room edition of AM I THE DRAMA? is available NOW,” wrote Cardi on social media.
Cardi B’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Am I the Drama? drops on Sept. 19. The LP features Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Lizzo, Kehlani, Cash Cobain, and Tyla.
In a recent cover story interview with Billboard, the “WAP” said that while she would love to win a Grammy for the new project.
“Success for me will be people saying, ‘She put out a great album.’ If [at] 3 a.m. people are talking about the album, that’s going to be success for me because people can’t wait to downplay it,” she explained.
Cardi B also shared that she is confident her fans will love the album.
“I’m really one of those artists that people ask for their albums the most every year,” Cardi B said. “I wouldn’t be confident if nobody asked me for my s–t. Imagine nobody asking for an album of yours? Imagine nobody asking for your music? That’s why I’m so confident.”
