Comedian and actor Chris Redd, known for making audiences laugh on “Saturday Night Live”, took time to open up about serious personal matters.

In an emotional six-minute Instagram video, Redd discussed his addiction to pills and how it led to an infamous hookup with Kenan Thompson’s ex-wife.

“While I was at the show, I had some pill issues, you know, some pill problems,” the 40-year old comedian said. “Nothing too crazy, but crazy for my Black ass. And I was even selling some to some of my castmates. I’m not gonna snitch on y’all motherf-ckers, man.”

“I would have panic attacks”

The former Saturday Night Live star expressed disappointment from former co-stars who talked about him behind his back rather than offering help, subsequently compounding his addiction.

“They wouldn’t help me,” Redd claimed. “I would have panic attacks, wouldn’t be concerned about me or nothing. Just would talk shit. It’s crazy how somebody would watch you destroy yourself.”

During this time, Evangeline, with whom Thompson shares two daughters, came in to support Redd.

“This lady was the only one to call me on my sh-t, to help me,” he added. “She helped me with my therapy journey. She told me a lot of things about people in her life that made me see things differently. And in that time we fell in love, man.”

Redd could be seen tearing up while reflecting on the relationship, which he said “made me look terrible,” as he revealed that he and Thompson, 47, had agreed to keep it “under wraps” but things “changed” once “everybody found out.”

According to the New York Post, Evangeline and Thompson had been living “separate lives” since 2019, and there was “no overlap” between relationships. News of the couple went public in September 2022, a week after Redd left Saturday Night Live.

Redd is still working in comedy, with a new special, “Caveat,” set to debut on January 28.
