Dame Dash floored Instagram Live viewers when his custom blinged-out grill fell from his mouth for all to see on Sept. 5.
On the live, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder was responding to 50’s jibe about his finances with a heated call to action for a “mogul battle,” making a point about his self-made success compared to the support system that 50 Cent has benefited from, which includes heavyweights like Dr. Dre and Eminem.
In 50 Cent’s “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” interview, he recalled, “The only person that pointed out a million dollars was no money was Damon Dash, and he has no money now,” he said about his industry contemporary’s comments about his first music contract. “How you gonna say that’s no money?” he asked.
The two men are currently in a standoff, instigated by Dame, to see who will release an app for their media networks first. A deal for 50 Cent Action, an ad-free channel, was inked with Lionsgate in August. Dame is the founder of the self-funded American Nu Network.
On Wednesday (Sept. 4), Dame hopped on Instagram Live to challenge 50 Cent to a “CEO War” after he criticized Dame for being broke the podcast interview.
The Instagram Live took a humorous turn when, as Dame passionately emphasized his financial challenges—stating he owes a staggering $8 million in taxes—his diamond grill unexpectedly shot out of his mouth, adding a comedic twist to what was intended to be a serious challenge.
Attempting to regain his composure, Dame categorized his grill mishap, humorously suggesting it was a reflection of his current financial struggles.
In the video, which can be viewed below, Dame explained that it wasn’t dentures that fell out of his mouth but instead his diamond grills.
“First of all, s**t is not dentures. These are my grills,” he explained, as he flashed them to the camera. “What happened was I have to go get implants put in ’cause I have implants. And I got them 20 years ago, and every 20 years, you gotta switch them out. So I have to do surgery—pause—oral.”
“My diamond grills popped out because that’s what happens when you’re broke,” he captioned his post, fully aware of the social media firestorm that would inevitably follow.
