DeRon Horton Reveals He Was Shot Days Before Christmas

Actor DeRon Horton, best known for his role in Netflix’s Dear White People, revealed on Instagram that he was shot just days before Christmas. Horton shared the shocking news on January 16, alongside images from the hospital and the aftermath of the incident.

“First off, I wanna give an honor to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones,” Horton wrote. He expressed deep gratitude to his family and friends, saying, “I love y’all, thank you.”

The Houston native recounted the details, explaining that someone shot at him through his car. “Gettin’ shot a few days before Xmas def wasn’t on my wish list,” Horton said, injecting a bit of humor into the serious situation. He revealed the bullet struck his arm, causing severe damage. “It shattered it all type [of] s**t, but I’m blessed, dawg, to not be in a casket or paralyzed. Lord, thank you.”

Horton confirmed he is now out of the hospital and focused on healing. “I got a plate [and] screws in my mf arm, so I can’t workout for a minute, which I’m mad about BUT it coulda been worse!” he said, emphasizing his positive outlook.

Despite the injury, Horton is determined to move forward without dwelling on the incident. “I don’t need no sympathy. I’m finna bounce right back; I feel amazing,” he assured his followers. Horton also urged others to stay vigilant and prioritize faith in their lives. “Keep God first! Stay alert [and] grateful for everything. The devil can’t stop s**t when you walk [with] God.”

The actor, who gained prominence for his four-season run on Dear White People, also appeared in Apple TV’s The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.
