A new documentary exploring the cultural impact of Eminem is set to premiere exclusively in AMC Theatres this summer.

Stans, named after the rapper’s 2000 hit about an obsessive fan, will run for a limited engagement from August 7 through August 10. The title references a song that helped define modern fan culture, giving rise to the widely used term “stan,” now included in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Directed by Steven Leckart, the film shifts focus away from Eminem himself and instead centers on his devoted fan base. It examines the complex relationship between the intensely private artist and the global audience that elevated him from a Detroit battle rapper to a towering figure in hip-hop history. The documentary weaves together reenactments, archival footage, and original interviews to chart the evolution of one of music’s most polarizing voices.

AMC Theatres Distribution, the company behind theatrical releases of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance, will handle the domestic rollout. Stans will screen at over 135 locations across the United States with two daily showings.

Due to the short run, AMC Stubs A-List reservations and discount tickets will not be available. The film will also enjoy a weeklong, awards-qualifying engagement at AMC Empire 25 in New York City.

International distribution is being managed by Trafalgar Releasing, which plans to debut the documentary in 1,600 theaters across 50 territories on the same date.

Eminem, a 15-time Grammy Award winner known for chart-topping singles including “Lose Yourself,” “Stan,” and “The Real Slim Shady,” serves as a producer. He is joined by longtime collaborators Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr, along with Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, and David Schiff.

More than a standard biography, Stans aims to capture the emotional resonance between artist and audience. The film offers a portrait of Eminem’s legacy as shaped not only by his lyrics, but by the voices of those who listened.
