Eric Dane revealed that he’s been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
The “Euphoria” star shared the news of his diagnosis in a recent interview. “I have been diagnosed with ALS,” Dane said. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.”
Dane, 52, has insisted that his diagnosis will not get in the way of his upcoming projects, including his role as Cal Jacobs in HBO Max’s hit show “Euphoria.” The actor is married to Rebecca Gayheart, and they have two children, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine,13.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week,” Dane continued. “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
Gayheart, his wife, also spoke about their family being supportive of Dane’s diagnosis. After she filed to dismiss her divorce petition from Dane in 2018, she said in an interview, “We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great coparents.”
She continued, “We really figured out the formula to staying a family, and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well.” Gayheart added, “It’s just a season. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success. We were married for I mean, we are still married- but together for 15 years, and we had two beautiful kids, so I think that’s a successful relationship, and that’s how we look at it.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Eric Dane and his family during this time.
