RAYE is clearing the air about her relationship with Michael B. Jordan. The British singer addressed weeks of dating speculation involving the “Sinners” star during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
RAYE walked the red carpet Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. During an interview with Extra, the Grammy-winning singer was asked about her connection to Jordan.
“No, we’re just friends who like roller coasters,” RAYE said.
The comment referenced the outing that first put the pair at the center of romance rumors. Jordan and RAYE were spotted together at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, on Aug. 7.
Fan videos and photos showed the two sitting beside each other on rides and enjoying the amusement park. Their outing quickly sparked speculation online about whether the pair had become Hollywood’s newest couple.
At the time, neither star publicly confirmed they were dating. Reports surrounding the outing also offered conflicting accounts of their relationship.
Entertainment Tonight reported that a source described the Six Flags trip as a date. Other reports described them as friends. RAYE’s latest comments now provide the clearest public response from either star.
RAYE and Michael B. Jordan are working together
While RAYE denied a romance, she confirmed there is another reason she and Jordan have been spending time together.
The two are apparently collaborating professionally. However, RAYE remained tight-lipped about exactly what they have planned.
“I’m technically not allowed to talk about it because I might get in trouble,” she told Extra.
RAYE offered another clue while speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the VMAs.
“We’ve been working on some things, which is really nice,” she said.
She also described Jordan as a friend, calling their relationship platonic. Details about the project have not been officially announced. The collaboration could explain why the pair were seen together before RAYE publicly addressed the rumors.
Jordan has largely kept his dating life private in recent years. His last publicly confirmed relationship was with model and entrepreneur Lori Harvey. The two became Instagram official in January 2021 after months of speculation. Their relationship ended in 2022 after more than a year together.
RAYE says she is still waiting for love
RAYE’s denial also comes as love remains a major theme in her music. Her hit “Where Is My Husband!” has fueled plenty of conversation about the singer’s own romantic life. During her VMAs interview, RAYE made it clear she is not rushing to find a partner.
“I’m really excited, but also not forcing that chapter,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
The singer said she believes the right relationship should happen naturally. RAYE has previously spoken about what she hopes to find in a future partner. In a 2025 interview with People, she emphasized the importance of communication in a relationship.
“Words of affirmation is my love language,” RAYE said. “So, you need to have the qualities of a good communicator.”
For now, however, RAYE is putting the Jordan speculation to rest. The singer says there is a connection between the two stars, but it is professional and friendly.
Fans may not be getting a new celebrity couple. They could, however, be getting a new project from RAYE and Michael B. Jordan.
