Fredro Starr has recently confirmed that there was friction between former co-stars Brandy and Countess Vaughn on the set of “Moesha.”
During a recent interview, the rapper/actor spoke on the issues that they encountered on the set. Starr, who played Brandy’s character on-screen boyfriend Q, said, “There was definitely friction, definitely. There were times on the set where they had an argument once or twice. And they got over it. People argue.”
He continued, “But I’m gonna keep it real, Countess Vaughn was funny. She was hilarious, and they needed her on the show, so she had a right to beef. She had a right to speak her mind.” Starr added, “Whatever happened, I’m sure that Countess Vaughn was frustrated enough to where it exploded.”
Fredro then spoke about Countess being offered a spin-off series because of her own issues with Brandy. “Countess was so dope and so much of a great actress and so funny they gave her her own show. They said, ‘You know what, they not getting along, just give her her own show.”
Countess Vaughn played the role of Kim Parker the best friend of Moesha on the 90s sitcom and went on to play the same role on the spin-off show “The Parkers,” which aired in 1999 and ran for five seasons.
