Gervonta “Tank” Davis was apprehended by police on Wednesday, Jan. 28. He was arrested at his home in the Miami area.
According to TMZ, the arrest comes two weeks after the Miami Gardens Police Department issued a warrant for Davis.
Taking to Instagram, the MGPD confirmed that Davis was in police custody.
“The Miami Gardens Police Department remains committed to protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and ensuring the safety of our community,” the post read.
Davis faces charges of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.
In October, Davis was allegedly involved in a violent physical altercation with a woman at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami Gardens. According to police reports, Davis is accused of grabbing his former girlfriend—a VIP cocktail server at the club—by the hair and neck. He then dragged her through a stairwell and the club’s kitchen toward a parking garage. The victim, identified in court records as Courtney Rossel, alleged that Davis struck her in the back of the head. She also accused him of attempting to force her into a vehicle before she managed to escape back into the club.
The lawsuit stated that Davis “committed battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress against her.”
Emmanuel Jeanty, an executive officer with the Miami Gardens Police Department, said that Davis was wanted on charges of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping at a Jan. 14 press conference.
Jeanty also noted that MGPD was was woring with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force “to locate and apprehend” Davis.
On the run, Davis had left Florida for Maryland. Because of his mounting legal issues, his fight against Jake Paul was cancelled.
Davis has had several run-ins with the law in connection with domestic violence incidents. In June, Davis was arrested for allegedly striking his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his two children. He allegedly hit her in the back of the head and slapped her during an argument over child pick-up. Davis was jailed for allegedly striking a woman in the face with a “closed hand type slap in Dec. 2022. The case was later dropped.
In Feb. 2020, a viral video showed Davis grabbing the mother of his child by the throat and forcibly removing her from a seat during a charity basketball game. He turned himself in on charges of simple battery and domestic violence.
