Jamie Foxx has broken his silence after an altercation at his birthday dinner resulted in injuries. The Academy Award-winning actor, who turned 57 last week, reassured fans via social media, sharing, “The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”

Glass-Throwing Incident Leaves Jamie Foxx Needing Stitches

A representative for Foxx confirmed the incident occurred on Friday evening during a celebratory dinner at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. “Someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” the spokesperson told PEOPLE. The impact required Foxx to receive stitches but left no lasting damage.

The Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed they responded to a call about the incident at around 10 p.m. local time. A statement from the department clarified, “Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded. Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties.” No arrests were made, and a battery report was filed.

Foxx later addressed the incident on Instagram, thanking fans for their support. In his post, he wrote, “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… when your light is shining bright, they try to bring you darkness.” He also expressed gratitude for those who checked on him, adding, “Thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… but they don’t know that you’re built for it.”

Support From Family and Fans

The star’s birthday celebration included his daughters, Corinne and Anelise, as well as ex Kristin Grannis. Despite the incident, Foxx used his post to highlight positivity, urging fans to watch his latest comedy special, What Had Happened Was, now streaming on Netflix. “It’s from my heart and my soul,” he shared, thanking viewers for making it a success.

Foxx has had a challenging year, including recovering from a life-threatening stroke in April. Reflecting on his resilience, the actor’s recent update emphasized his determination to overcome difficulties. “The lights have been shining bright,” he said, maintaining an optimistic outlook despite the weekend’s disruption.

Foxx’s next project, Back in Action with Cameron Diaz, is set to premiere on Netflix in January.
