Jamie Foxx recently opened up about why Valentine’s Day will be a tough one for him this year.
Speaking with Complex at the Coulda Been Love 2 premiere in Los Angeles, Foxx shared that he had just been through a bad breakup.
“I don’t know about y’all, but Valentine’s can be tricky,” Foxx explained. “And I had a break-up during Valentine’s, and it was bad.”
The Grammy and Oscar winner says he’s been struggling after their split and that his ex was of Spanish descent.
“She understood every word Bad Bunny was saying. Man, she f**ked me up,” he said. “She understands Español, and she was Spanish.”
Complicating the situation even further, Foxx is set to release his latest single, “Somebody.” This follows his recent work, including the 2025 single “Grandma’s Hands.” It also marks his first major music project following his health recovery in 2023.
Foxx sings, “Can somebody find somebody to / Get this somebody off my mind? I’ve been talkin’ to the ceilin’ / Like it’s gonna give me answers tonight.” The lyrics spring from a place of pain and vulnerability.
Elsewhere in the interview, Foxx was asked who he would consider taking on in a Verzuz battle.
FOXX SHARED A VERZUZ PROPOSAL
“Who would I go against? Nobody? I can’t,” Foxx said. “I can’t. Man, that’s it’s too much.”
Foxx shared how he and Tank would perform together and give a great show.
“We wouldn’t do a Verzuz battle, we wouldn’t go against each other. But me and Tank would put on a good show. That’s my guy. That’s my brother.
In January 2025, Foxx and his former girlfriend, Alyce Huckstepp, broke up after dating for several years. They decided to go their separate ways after the release of Back in Action on Netflix.
“Jamie is super busy just the way he likes it,” a source said. “He has so much going on, he barely has time to stop and think about how blessed he is.”
