Jamie Foxx opens up about his 2023 health scare

In his newest Netflix Standup special, What Had Happened Was, he explained, “April 11, I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for Aspirin. I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f*** to do.”

He revealed that before he took the aspirin he had blacked out. He also said that the doctor had given him a cortisone shot but it made things worse. Foxx claimed that his sister knew something was off and rushed him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. “I don’t remember 20 days,” the actor said.

The doctor told Foxx’s sister that he was “having a brain bleed that has led to a stroke.” The doctor also said that he would be able to make it through surgery but said that it would be the “worst year of his life.”

Foxx added, “I lost everything, but the only thing I could hold onto was my sense of humor. If I could stay funny, I could stay alive.”
