The father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown was arrested Thursday morning on a charge of attempted murder, following a violent dispute in a Las Vegas parking lot.

Stabbing Over Parking Spot

Police say 57-year-old Quenton M. Brown—who often goes by Marselles—allegedly stabbed a youth football coach after a dispute over a “door ding” at All American Park. The argument escalated quickly, according to authorities.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the back, clavicle and hands. He also sustained broken ribs and injuries severe enough to require surgery. Medical staff report he remains in critical condition.

Witnesses offered vivid accounts. One said they saw the suspect swing his knife “25 times” at the victim. A separate observer described how Brown struck the coach in the back in a straight stabbing motion.

When police located Brown at the scene, he had abrasions on his knees and bleeding on his face. Without being prompted, he allegedly admitted the confrontation began “over a door ding.”

Brown is a former professional boxer. He compiled a career record of 33 wins, 18 losses and one draw. He debuted in the sport in 1989 and retired nearly a decade ago.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. Court records list him as an inmate pending his appearance in court, which is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Jaylen Brown, a four-time All-Star and 2023-24 NBA champion, reportedly was unaware of the incident or his father’s arrest. He does not have a close relationship with his father, TMZ reports.

Brown, drafted by Boston in 2016, has played his entire nine-year career with the Celtics. He was named Finals MVP in 2024, when Boston claimed its first title since 2009.
