Jenifer Lewis is voicing her disappointment regarding the results of the recent presidential election.

The actress, who plays Mama Odie in The Princess and The Frog, had a candid discussion with sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, about the voting behaviors of Black and Latino men in the 2024 presidential election.

In the interview, Lewis asserted that some voters chose Donald Trump over Kamala Harris to “keep women in their place.”

“Oh, honey…,” she said. “Oh, honey. When your favorite niece and your 13 year old daughter is r**** by your alcoholic brother or your next door neighbor and she tries to a**** that baby inside of her from a r***, you’re gonna regret that.”

Lewis, who has previously referred to Trump as the new hitler, surmised that this demographic did not vote for Kamala Harris because of her gender.

“They didn’t vote for her because she was a woman,” she added. “They didn’t care that she was smart and powerful, educated, beautiful, kind, joyful, fearless!” Lewis continued to rave about Harris adding that she would’ve “taken care of this country” and “protected the people.”

She then called out black men in particular. “And Black men, that was just shocking because honey, he’s gonna give the military and police permission to shoot you in your back. And there will be no immunity.”

Smith proposed an alternate perspective for Lewis suggesting that some voters prioritized economic concerns, crime, and safety. He added that black men didn’t think about issues such as Roe vs Wade.

Lewis declined that argument as an oversimplification, asserting that black men’s voting choice is rooted in loyalty to male figures. “They voted for him because they hate themselves. They see this thing as powerful. That he is going to move mountains for them and make them rich.”

Lewis starred on ABC’s Black-ish for eight seasons as the grandmother, Ruby Johnson. The  Walk of Fame recipient has appeared in more than 400 episodic television shows, 68 movies, 40 animations, and four Broadway shows.
