During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jennifer Hudson addressed the recent buzz surrounding her relationship with rapper Common.
Last month on The Jennifer Hudson Show, both stars dropped hints about their respective partners, with Common mentioning his girlfriend’s EGOT status and talk show. Hudson playfully recalled the audience’s reaction to piecing the clues together, jokingly quipping, “Is that what you got? Because I thought he was dating Whoopi Goldberg.”
Discussing the dynamics of interviewing someone she’s romantically involved with, Hudson shared, “I find it more difficult to interview someone I’m a huge fan of, which is most of my guests obviously. But that’s when I freak out the most. I like people that I’m more familiar with because it’s more like a conversation.”
Despite the ease of interviewing her partner, Hudson did playfully disagree with Common’s assertion about his Chicago roots during their previous chat. She clarified, “He thinks he’s from the South Side. I’m from the South Side, he’s from the East Side. It’s a Chicago thing.”
The couple’s relationship sparked rumors back in 2022 while working on their upcoming film Breathe, where Hudson portrays Maya and Common stars as Darius. Common recently appeared on Today with Hoda & Jenna, discussing his book and touching upon the topic of marriage. Reflecting on personal growth, he expressed openness to the idea, stating, “I feel like I have grown and the work that I’ve done on myself has allowed me to see that I am a marrying type.”
