Renown journalist Joy Ann Reid has weighed in on Nicki Minaj’s recent appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest.
Among many celebrities who have voiced their opinions on Minaj’s public support of conservatives, Reid is the latest to join in. The author took to Instagram to voices what she believes are the real consequences of the rapper’s latest political choices.
Reid’s Instagram post featured a screenshot of a HOT 97 article about Minaj’s instagram account deactivation. Reid captioned the post, “Ten million followers lost, but hey, at least she now has her #maga and #turningpointusa friends plus the #jeffreyepstein defenders who are cool with pedos … all of whom will I’m sure any day now will become huge fans of woman-performed hip hop and formerly undocumented Trinidadian immigrants (so long as they’re not in fishing boats near Venezuela.) This should all work out perfectly for #nicki …. Let’s see if Donald comes through with those pardons. #magaconsequences”

In addition to Joy-Ann Reid, Lizzo joined in on the commentary. The “About Damn Time” singer shared a candid TikTok video, which didn’t name Minaj outright but the message was unmistakable.
“You’re about to see an influx of people who see that it is more profitable and more beneficial to join that side,” Lizzo said before deleting the video. “You’re going to see it. It already started, and it’s going to continue.”
Rapper Joe Budden also shared his disappointment on his podcast, emphasizing that he is cutting ties with Minaj completely.
“That was the last candle on the cake for me. Sorry Barbz, sorry Nicki. Don’t call me. Don’t text me. It is what it is. Sometimes, how you move around out there does have an effect on how I view you.”
Budden added, “Sometimes, how y’all move around out there does have an effect on how I view you. And this was one of them things. I’d be a fool to think that you didn’t consider that before you did it. Which just says to me that you really don’t give a f*ck.”
