Judge Greg Mathis is tired of black entertainers’ public feuds and urges celebrities to lead by example in resolving personal issues privately.
In an impassioned social post, Judge Mathis expressed his disappoint in the recent public tit-for-tat antics and beef displayed by black entertainers. While he didn’t explicitly name Katt Williams and Mo’Nique, he referenced their recent high-profile disputes that have ignited widespread social media debate.
“I want to appeal to our comedians to stop going after each other in public like this. You are embarrassing yourselves. You are embarrassing our community.” Posing a question, he asked, “I know many times you have to defend yourselves about what’s being said, but why can’t we do it directly?”
He added that these recent public feuds have made black entertainers the Hollywood laughing stock. “I just want you know, I believe that we are being laughed at by all the major studios and by their exeutives.” He emphasized that such public altercations are not the norm in other cultures, implying a double standard.
“Thats why I say you are hurting yourselves and you’are hurting our community and you asre hurting the young people who are looking.”
Acknowledging his own occasional courtroom outbursts, Mathis clarified that these moments are carefully edited and used for entertainment in his TV shows. “I’m no saint, I am guilty of having temper issues from time to time on my show. That’s entertainment.”
The former reality court show host ended the video imploring celebrities to lead by example, “Lets not turn on each other. Let’s turn towards each other.”
