R&B turned country songbird, K.Michelle, revealed to fans that she quietly wed her husband, who’s out of the spotlight, after a decade of dating.
Her husband was revealed to be Dr. Kastan Sims, a Memphis-based dental professional and her longtime love she’s known since her teens,
In a livestream, the country crooner shared a tiny details about her marriage. She didn’t share too much, but she did admit that it took her now husband 10 years to finally lock things down and marry her.
“People might want to crack on me and joke about that. But it took my husband… sh**, I ain’t even going to play with you like that. It took my husband a decade.”
The 43 year-old singer described herself as having masculine energy that she believed made her “a lot” for most men to handle. K.Michelle attributed her husband’s decade of dating to her own self-doubt about whether she possessed the qualities of an ideal wife.
K.Michelle and the good doctor are hometown friends and went public with their relationship in 2016.
The singer previously told Essence that she and her fiancé, Dr. Sims, were making plans to welcome their first children together —twins— by way of a surrogate.
“Yes. I’m doing genetic editing, which means I’m able to pick the gender of my children,” she said. “I knew that I wanted girls and I knew I wanted twins…I just told my fiancé, I said, ‘Looky here, if three take, well, we got three!’”
In 2022, the two appeared on WEtv’s Marriage Bootcamp and discussed expanding their family.
