Katt Williams received one of his greatest honors. The legendary comedian received a doctorate in Humane Letters from Miles College, an HBCU in Fairfield, Alabama.
“It’s not every day that people get an honorary doctorate,” Miles President Bobbie Knight said.“It’s because of you and what you have done, and we just want to show you how much we appreciate you and recognize you for the work you have done.”
Donning academic regalia, Williams was hilarious in his acceptance his Doctorate in Humane Letters
“In a very short period of time, no one could deserve this more than me,” he joked, earning a roar of laughter from the audience. “It was going to take a mighty fine institution to recognize that.”
Williams went on to express his gratitude for the prestigious honor.
“I serve a God that insists that my cup runneth over. And those smiles that I sell for a living – those have Miles right in the middle of it.”
According to AL.com, Williams and Miles College will be partnering with his film studio. Williams announced that he purchased the former Fort McClellan property in 2024 to build the studio.
“It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry. He can only do so much,” Williams said at the announcement
“President Knight’s vision is to integrate AI into every facet of the institution. This opportunity to partner with Katt Williams advances that vision. Specifically, aligning with his studio development and plan in Anniston creates career ladders and provides real-world learning for our student entrepreneurs,” said Chuck Faush, Miles’ chief innovation and growth officer.
Williams also announced his ‘The Golden Age Tour”, which will hit stadiums across the country in 2026. The tour will be produced by North American Entertainment Group. Tickets will be available starting with presales on Monday, October 20 at 10 a.m. local time. The general on sale begins Wednesday, October 22 at 10 a.m. local time on Ticketmaster.
